Our Lima community-based field site is based in the communities of Pampas de San Juan de Miraflores and Villa El Salvador. This site offers a unique environment for the conduct of chronic disease and environmental health research in an urban and peri-urban context, including studies on asthma, COPD, cancer, cardiometabolic disorders, nutrition, and mental health research.
Our team members have been involved in a wide variety of global research projects over the last 8 years in collaboration with Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Peru; A.B. PRISMA, Peru. In addition, the Lima Site of the Center for Non-Communicable Diseases has hosted students and trainees ranging from undergraduates, medical students, graduate students, and post-doctoral research fellows from Johns Hopkins University and other institutions. Our site is currently supported by the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the U.K. Medical Research Council.
