Kampala, Uganda

Kampala is the capital of Uganda with 1.1 million residents. Kampala is one of the study settings for population-based cohort established in 2015 which aims to assess the association between chronic respiratory diseases and urbanization (LiNK Study). The capital is also home to Makerere University and the Makerere Lung Institute (MLI). Our group has been collaborating with investigators from MLI on a range of projects including a self-management trail for COPD (GeCO) as well as a recently funded grant from the Fogarty International Center to establish a center of excellence for non-communicable disease research and training at Makerere University.
