Abigail Winiker, BA

Abigail Winiker attended Wake Forest University where she studied Psychology and Spanish. After college, she worked for three years at a Federally Qualified Community Health Center in an inner-city Boston neighborhood. She began as a grant writer and went on to work in quality improvement, program development and implementation, and project management, ultimately leading the organization’s Patient Centered Medical Home transformation process. She was trained to perform HIV counseling and testing and was certified as a Family Planning Counselor. She currently works as a research assistant, helping to implement a peer mentor-based harm reduction intervention within a population of HCV-positive injection drug users. She spent Fall 2017 in Puno, Peru, helping with the social and behavioral components of CHAP and HAPIN trials.
